The Honolulu County Genealogical Society was
unable to have our meeting at our usual Manoa Gardens Community Center on April 13th, so for just April so we met at the
LDS Church community room at 1931 Lusitana St., Honolulu, HI 96813. 9 am.
Forty persons were in attendance for a meeting that is sure to be the highlight of the year.

Kurt and Fa'aki Richter in front of Tongan items like Tapa |
Fa'aki Richter and husband
, Kurt, new Society members, hosted us there and gave a wonderful presentation on
Tongan Genealogy. Fa'aki has produced three books which demonstrated her professionalism and research capability. There were lots of Tongan artifacts and hand made items on display. Members of her family prepared a sumptuous Tongan
luncheon for all of us. Some society members wore their South Pacific attire, pareo, aloha shirts, etc. Many of the Tongans wore a traditional hand made mat overskirt.
Fa'aki and Kurt planned the program as follows:
1. Introductions
2. Acknowledgments
3. An introduction to Tonga:
a.
explain map of Tonga
b. Foreigners that came
to Tonga
4. Meet The Royal House
5. My roots
6. Explanation of
artifacts displayed
7. The Tongan luncheon
Plenty of free parking. The
entrance to the parking is to take the driveway on the left side of the chapel - as you face the chapel. Take the driveway all the way back to the first right and turn into the Parking Lot
