The August meeting of the
Honolulu County Genealogical Society was held August 11, 2012 at 9am. at the Manoa Gardens Community Room. For the return of the popular feature: "Five Minute Biographies" by society members, Bobby Stevens presented the story of his grandmother, reading a transcription of a 1980 tape recording she made about her life.

In commeration of the
200th Anniversary of the War of 1812, one topic of discussion for the meeting will be: "
War of 1812 -What Was That All About?" and a second topic will be about "
Tecumseh's Prophecies," both led by Martha Reamey.

GeneaPress.com there are big donations coming in towards a project to Preserve the Pensions from the War of 1812. Read about The Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) donation to
Preserve the Pensions – War of 1812 Pension Digitization Fund. " In conjunction with the National Archives; Records Administration (
www.archives.gov), fold3 (
www.fold3.com) and Ancestry.com (
www.ancestry.com). FGS is helping to digitize 180,000 pension applications representing an estimated 7.2 million pages of War of 1812 Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files. The collection will be available for free on fold3’s website at

In this recording my grandmother relates her life history. I will imitate her southern rural accent.
