HCGS 11 August 2012 - War of 1812

    The August meeting of the Honolulu County Genealogical Society was held August 11, 2012 at 9am. at the Manoa Gardens Community Room.  For the return of the popular feature: "Five Minute Biographies" by society members, Bobby Stevens presented the story of his grandmother, reading a transcription of a 1980 tape recording she made about her life.

      In commeration of the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812,  one topic of discussion for the meeting will be: "War of 1812 -What Was That All About?"  and a second topic will be about "Tecumseh's Prophecies," both led by Martha Reamey.

    On Saturday morning, August 4th,  the 8am online radio show "My Society" by the Federation of Genealogical Societies,  will spotlight our Honolulu County Genealogical Society at approximately 8:45 am.  Donna Wendt will be interviewed on the telephone about the society and it can be heard at  at approximately 8:45 am Hawaii Time.  It can also be heard archived on iTunes under the Podcast category.
