HCGS Meeting Sept 9, 2017 Brick Walls - How to team them down

HCGS Meeting Sept 9, 2017      9am     1465 Aʻala St., Honolulu (basement level)

Brick Walls - How to tear them down.
We watched a video by Crista Cowan of Ancestry.com discussing "Breaking Through Your Brick Walls - A Case Study"  Some tips were to create a timeline of the individual and include important dates in history so you can better understand what was going on during their lives (such as a big earthquake in Kentucky may have inspired some to migrate to another area).  Don't just stop at researching the individual, try to get information on all the siblings and their families.  Explore a Family History Wiki at the Learning Center at Ancestry.com, and don't forget to use the "Card Catalogue" at Ancestry.com to search individual databases.
It was suggested that you should interview your relations.  One question to ask is what their Christmas Memories were.

DIRECTIONS to the meeting site  Keola Hoʻonanea Senior Housing at 1465 Aʻala St., Honolulu 96817 (downstairs in back):
The Keola Ho’onanea high rise is centrally located between N School St and N Vineyard St. and between Liliha St and Nuuanu Ave.  It’s across the river (Nuuanu Steam) from Foster Botanical Garden and next to the H1.   It’s a seven-minute walk from the bus stop on Liliha Street and Vineyard.
There is free on-street parking on A’ala or on Vineyard.  Car-pooling is a good idea, and arrive early to find somewhere to park.   There is a loading area by the door for those to unloading refreshments, or projector, etc.   A handicap parking space may be available.  Don’t park in the building’s lot unless it is marked for visitor.
