HCGS Information

Calling all HCGS Members:

1. On Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 --- Don't forget to attend our Annual Holiday Brunch, 10:00-1:00, Hickam AFB Officers' Club. Pay $18.95 at the door (does not include tip). Remember to bring your pass from Jim Deutch to get onto Hickam AFB if you don't have one on your car. For the Gift Exchange, be sure to bring a wrapped gift (value $5 to $10). The buffet is always terrific so get ready for a fun and delicious time.

2. The annual holiday brunch on Dec 2nd takes the place of our HCGS December meeting which would have been on Saturday Dec 8th. But a bonus experience is offered as an invitation to attend a meeting of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) at our usual time and place i.e. Sat 8 Dec at 9:00 am - 11:00 am Manoa Gardens. You can learn a little more about DNA and genealogy. Contact Georgia Bopp for any details.

3. Our January meeting will be on January 12th with election of new Board Members. Don't worry you won't be coerced from the floor to do anything! However we are formulating the 2008 slate of programs for our HCGS meetings. We need your input for ideas for the meetings. Please come with ideas for interesting topics for 2008. Also if there is anything you would like to present yourself, let Donna know. It could be anything genealogically related. We can combine several short presentation together if potential speakers only want to present for, say, 10 or 15 minutes.

4. Bring your Pedigree Sheets to the next meetings, for collection into a Society binder, as mentioned by Georgia in the Dec 12th Blog below

Hi everyone,

A 'few' of us attended the ISOG meeting last Saturday and learned more about navigating through DNA and the National Geographic Project.

A tip that was given by Georgia and Tom, that I liked, was "when doing a Goggle search to limit the number of hits put "'s around the name." This keeps two or more words together.

Happy holidays to all,
Harriet
