Christmas Party-Brunch

Today, Dec 6th, was the Honolulu County Genealogical Society's fabulous Christmas brunch at Hickam Air Force Base Officers' Club. All arrangements were made by Jim Deutsch - thank you! Gifts were selected by number from under the tree, but following rules of the game, if someone had already opened a gift that the next person liked, the new person could "appropriate" the opened gift, and the the victim would have to chose another gift from under the tree or "appropriate" someone else's gift. And so it went. Quite fun, and no telling what everyone might end up with. When all were full of the great food and had their gifts, no one wanted to leave the party. So we sat around and told tall tales, some about genealogy and some not. Below are an assortment of some of photos from the day.

Well, I certainly missed being there this year - I very much enjoyed being there in 2007 and 2008.

This year I learned to like my middle name (Henry) that I have always hated. My uncle told me that I'm named after his father who died 2 weeks before I was born and who was, apparently, a lovely guy. But he received a large dose of poison gas in WWI and spent the next 30 years coughing uncontrollably. He'd been an active sportsman before the war.

A Very Merry Xmas and a Happy 2010 to all of you. I wish you lots of Family History success.

Best Wishes
